September

It has been a very busy month for us Bakers. My birthday always spills over to September (I encourage this of course) so we started off the month with me turning 22* and little Miss Sprinkles had her 1st birthday as well. I did make her a cookie cake (spoiled much). Tim and I each picked out a gift for her and she loves them both!

We celebrated our nephew Kallahan's 3rd birthday, sweet Bentley's 2nd birthday, my SIL  and BIL's bdays are also in September, it's a packed month!

Tim and I went to Kansas so I got to help celebrate his cousins bridal and lingerie shower and he had brother/farm time. How gorgeous is Miss Shalie! Her day will be here so soon, I miss my wedding days so I am living vicariously through her.

We had such a great time with his brother and SIL. Kelley and I had fun decorating for the shower and hanging out. Her house always inspires me to get in gear with the decorating for seasons. I already had some fall decor but I am lacking. Check hers out here

Sprinkles has never been sick until this week. Keep in mind I have never had a pet until now and not knowing what to do for her was scary. But she loved the part if chicken and rice instead of her food. She is back to her spunky self, even well enough to read a little.

This weekend we walked for my mom in the race for the cure, it was fun to have everyone together and be a part of it.

I was flying solo, Tim was back in Kansas for a family members auction so Sprinkles and I had a girls weekend in which i baked some super yummy pumpkin cheesecake bread. Yes I did bring some for snack today, and look at that swirl, YUMM!

I am starting the planning for my sisters baby shower, step 1 invitations! Hope everyone's Monday was wonderful!

My Birthday Weekend!!

It's always nice to have a birthday and a long weekend meet. I had a sweet mom at school bring me a goodie of treats to start my Friday off right. Since it was my first week back at school I took full advantage of not doing anything when I came home. When Tim got home he said he had my birthday gift ready, it was the purse I've wanted since the honeymoon, yeah!!! He did so good on this gift, even though I said 38 times that we just did the floors so I am happy with no gift, glad he didn't listen.

We went to Crush for a yummy brunch and Tim wanted to do some antiquing. I was not a fan of this, the stores smelt of something not good. It's not for everyone, that's all I will say.

We went to dinner with my SIL and her family and Granny to Kabuki, always great food. They were very sneaky and told the waitress it was my birthday and they brought me a brownie and ice cream. On Sunday we went to church and my friend Danielle who was recently diagnosed with MS was there to dedicate baby Reid, she is doing wonderful at walking. God is great, just looking at her and all that has happened it is very evident. I snagged a pic with the girlys from my old school. Miss them dearly.

We had a cook out with Tim's family, they always cook amazing food. Tiffany gave me this great crock-pot cook book, say that 3 times fast, it has so many ideas. Her and I like to do a meal that we can all eat off of together, its nice to have some family time throughout the week, especially during the busy school year so I know this will get her family over.

Tim played some Labor Day golf and I was on Sprinkles duty, we worked out and went for a walk (she loves walks), and I started a water challenge. The goal is to drink 64oz of water a day, I usually do drink water throughout my day  but I am really going to push my self to limit the soda and get more water.

I have found a new hair product which I love, my hairdresser uses it on me and I decided it's time to invest.
Bed head, small talk, it smooths out your fro and many other things. It smells super yummy and it's on sale now for 9.99 at Ulta. Check it out!!

We went to Target for random things and we found this cute little referee shirt for Sprinkles and she's not a huge fan, it has the same effect as the puffy vest, calming. She was awkwardly laying like a baby on Tim. But she really is the sweetest when she is wearing clothes.

Over all it was a great relaxing weekend of friends and family, now to start another!

Babies and floors

As I said in my last post I was doing a gender reveal for my sister and her husband. It was a lot of work, very fun and exciting, but lots of work. That day started off not so good, Tim woke up feeling horrible so he went to the dr. And they said "stay home and rest, no work for you" (I imagine it being said with a shaking finger). Tim came back home was in bed all day, so splitting my time to get ready for guests and take care of him, yikes, it was a lot.

It all came together and was a great evening with big news for the Buckles'.  They got to find out they are having a baby BOY and they signed on their new house the same day, how great is that!!

I had also mentioned that we were getting new floors. Originally they were to be done Friday and Saturday, then it got moved up to Wednesday and Thursday then we were told  "we can do it ALL on Tuesday", I said "sign me up!!".

Before:

After:

Amazing!!! Is all I have to say, yeah to new floors!!!! To have it all done in one day is just so awesome, now to put it all back together to look like a home again.
I hope your Tuesday was as great as mine!!!
Have an ahhhhmazimg week!

August = Busy

Since coming home from our wonderful honeymoon we/I have been BUSY. A very dear friend recently had a baby and some medical issues arose as she was learning to be a new mom, she ended up in the hospital for 5 weeks and was diagnosed with MS. So naturally everyone she knows has offered her help and support, I was asked to dog sit while they had the carpets cleaned for her homecoming, I said "yes" without hesitation and Sprinkles was of course hesitating the morning of. She is not a fan of other dogs, she's just scared, so she  barked a good part of the day until I realized if I hold her she will stop. Poor puppies, being harassed in a scary place, but they finally all calmed down for a nap most of the afternoon.

Prayers for the White's as they learn this new road ahead of them.

I was a part of helping with Audra's baby shower for baby #2, I got to make some cute decorations (I am bias),

and us with momma to be, she is definitely all baby with little Sammie and we were all prints!

Along with planning things I have been planning my sisters gender reveal, I sure do love everything baby these days (can't wait till it's me). I thought we would do simple and she wants to do the cupcakes with the color in the middle. Well I had to try out the process just to make sure it could be done DIY and you betchya, my mom and Kenzie tested out my creations and they said it works. So, my sister goes Thursday to find out and I get to see the results (I love being the 1st to know), and the event is Friday evening with just family. I made the invitations through May Designs, I have loved their planners and now I love their cards, you must check them out!

We have been in our home for a year now and when we bought it we had beer goggles on I guess because there are a lot of things we missed as in our floors. I have been really pressing to get them redone especially before we have any little Baker's coming. So since I have been on summer break I have had way too much time to look at the floors, poor Tim hears me complain about them all the time. We started looking at flooring stores and talking to others who have gotten floors, and folks we have decided on one and they are coming soon to make this momma wife happy!!!

I will do a post of gender reveal and floors soon, both very exciting things but very different!!!

Honeymoon in San Juan

We have just gotten back from our honeymoon and I already miss being pool side. We had an event-free travel down there, as in no lost luggage, and enjoyed a week relaxing. On the plane a man said we HAD to visit the rainforest, I was not feeling it, on vacation I am all about doing nothing or a minimal amount. I like sleeping in, going to the pool, reading and watching movies, eating lunch and taking a nap, going to dinner. Basically: not much. We did visit old San Juan, it was amazing to see the fort and the tiny streets and architecture. We had stopped for lunch and had a piña colada from the birth place of piña coladas, it was amazing.

We didn't stay long in old San Juan because it was deathly hot and I wanted to be by the pool.

We did go to the beach one day, it was super windy and the umbrella ended up falling and hitting me, that's when I called it and went to the pool.

We walked down to the other hotels and checked them out, still very nice, but OK, we liked ours the best. On the way we got some gelato and watched some futbol at another hotel

It was fun watching everyone stop to watch and cheer. I know the saying "smiling is a universal language" but so is watching sports.

While Tim would gamble I would do a slot machine ( I do penny slots, I hate the idea of losing), and wouldn't you know I found one that connected me to my English roots, I wish.

I did win $50, and I found these lovlies at Walgreens I felt like all the stars aligned for this to happen.

The only local food we had was a fried plantain, I wasn't a fan. We ate at Chilis, Cheese Cake Factory and Denny's that charges .49 for lemon, and non of which was any good. Well just the cheese cake factory it was delicious as usual.

My parents watched little miss for us and I caught myself saying that I missed her a lot. They sent us pics periodically with little captions.

I think they enjoyed having her, but pictures can be misleading.

As soon as we got home we got up the next morning to head to Keeler's 6th birthday party in Kansas. He, in passing, told his momma he wanted a shiney belt buckle, so Tim searched it out and got him a very nice one. Crazy to think all the little ones are not so little any more, I remember when Keeler was born.

July and Honeymoon Bound

As our honeymoon is quickly coming up I have been trying to accomplish some household chores before we head out. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I like coming home to a clean house. So I've worked on the windows and blinds, I helped Tim with the garage a few weekends ago and today I got to venture out in the world of laundromats (it may or not be because of Sprinkles). OK, so a while back a friend talked very highly of going to a laundromat before and it was super great because she got all her laundry done quickly. Well, I only needed to wash our WHITE comforter that had puppy throw up on it. I went in very nervous but the lady that was on duty was very polite and helpful. I got it all washed up and it took FOREVER to dry. But I got it home looking great.

I think Tim got nervous that I went by myself but I am glad I got it taken care of. I think I know what it might feel like to be in the nesting mode, but I'm not!!

Tim and I rearranged our furniture, we were just testing it out and this is my visitor while I was washing dishes. And YES, I clean the counter often since she has become nosy.

Yeaterday was my moms birthday and I made dessert. I made strawberry shortcake parfaits in mason jars. I was very proud of myself I made everything from scratch. Here is one recreated for Tim.

I ran out of berries so we knew he and I would have to share but he didn't get very much. He picked up some berries and ready whip. It doesn't quit look the same but I hope it tastes just as good {hope he doesn't notice it's not in a mason jar}.

I am excited to share all about our trip and adventures when we return!!

Summer 2014

I have been fully enjoying my summer, Sprinkles and I really love sleeping in! We haven't done a whole lot but we have been a part of some pretty big things for others.

A} I got my new pots and pans (ok so no one was involved in this but it was a big deal)

B} we got to help celebrate Baby Brody's 1st birthday, so cute!

C} we celebrated Jordan, Nene and Kenzie's birthday at my sisters and we found out they are pregnant!!! This is #5 for them (Olive is missing from this pic).

D} Kelley, my new sis-in-law, had some super cute shorts, so I thought I might need some too. That's the joy of not living in the same town. We can have the same clothes.

Yes I found 2 cute pairs and the one on the left Tim said it makes him want to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, fiesta time!!

This weekend we have stayed close by, worked on the garage and rearranged furniture.
I love cooking so I we have tried a chicken avocado salad and we are trying a zucchini and mushroom pasta for dinner. I have to give props to my hubby for being brave to taste all the new recipes.  Here's to cooking!!
